Week #5 Assignment - Blogs for Educators

http://asalaamualiakum.wikispaces.com/

I enjoyed this class' blog very much. It was extremely educational and enjoyable to read through and explore. The class that has created this blog is a group of 10 and 11 year olds at a school in Scotland that correspond with a sister school in Pakistan. They have pages on a variety of subjects and issues including everything from a day in the life of a student to the movie stars and rock stars of Pakistan. This site is very well put together because in everything that they discuss and teach about there is the opportunity to click on another link that will explain further details or explain other aspects of whatever is being discussed. They also provide a comparison for everything in Pakistan to how life is in Scotland. I believe this is a very good learning experience for these students. It allows them to be very culturally aware of other parts of the world. I believe all classrooms should learn about other kids in other cultures and if possible be able to contact them. It is important for young people to grow up with the understanding that there is a big world out there and many people who live very different lives as they themselves do. Being culturally aware of all the differences and uniqueness this world has, is one of the best lessons a person, especially a young student, can ever learn.
